When choosing the right DTF film (DTF film, i.e. DTF transfer film), the following factors can be considered for the different characteristics of cold tear film, hot tear film, and instant tear film:
1. Material characteristics and application scenarios
Cold tear film
Material characteristics: The main release component of cold tear film is silicon, and it is necessary to wait for the film to cool to a certain temperature (usually below 55°C) before it can be easily torn off. The product has good stability, matte color effect, and good wash fastness.
Application scenarios: Suitable for special fabrics, such as coated fabrics, canvas, flannel and other rough fabrics. After these fabrics are hot-pressed, the use of cold tear film can give enough time to restore their flatness. At the same time, cold tear film is also more suitable for printing complex and delicate small patterns.
Hot tear film
Material characteristics: The main release component of hot tear film is wax, which has relatively poor ink absorption performance, and small letters are easy to fall off, but the surface brightness is high after thorough cooling. After the hot stamping is completed, it needs to be torn off while hot (usually within 10 seconds after hot stamping, when the ambient temperature is 35°C or the film surface temperature is greater than 100°C).
Application scenarios: Suitable for mass production of ordinary fabrics, such as cotton T-shirts. Since hot tear film can save time waiting for the heat transfer film to cool down, it can improve production efficiency.
Second tear film
Material characteristics: Second tear film can be regarded as a supplementary form of hot tear film, which can be torn off in a very short time (almost immediately after the pressing is completed).
Application scenarios: Suitable for scenarios that require high efficiency and large-scale production. However, the second tear film has strict requirements on the tearing time and is relatively difficult to operate.
2. Production efficiency and cost considerations
Hot tear film: Since it can be torn off while hot, it saves waiting time, so it is more suitable for large-scale and high-efficiency production needs. However, it is necessary to pay attention to the parameters such as the time, temperature, and pressure of the pressing to ensure a good transfer effect.
Cold tear film: Although it needs to wait for cooling before tearing, the product has good stability and is suitable for printing quality with high requirements for details and granularity. At the same time, it is also more suitable for printing on special fabrics.
Second tear film: It is between hot tear film and cold tear film in terms of efficiency, but it is relatively difficult to operate. It needs to be weighed according to specific production needs.
3. Other considerations
Temperature and time control: Different types of DTF films have different requirements for the temperature and time of pressing. Therefore, you need to read the product manual carefully before use to ensure that the pressing machine is adjusted to the appropriate temperature and pressure range.
Fabric adaptability: Different fabrics have different adaptability to DTF film. When selecting DTF film, you need to consider factors such as fabric texture and thickness to ensure good transfer effect and adhesion.
Quality testing: Before formal production, it is recommended to conduct small batch testing to verify the suitability and printing effect of the selected DTF film. This helps to find and solve problems in time and avoid production losses.
